For a little while, it looked like all our summer holidays were going to be completely out of the question, and if there’s ever been a time when we needed to get away and have a break from it all, it’s now!

While the restrictions on international travel are being lifted, many people, including This Morning’s Dr Hilary are unsure about flying during the pandemic. But the UK is prepared and ready for holidaymakers to enjoy a summer staycation.

There’s so much to love about holidays in the UK. There are breathtaking scenery and stunning coastlines all within reach. Here are four reasons why you should enjoy a Great British Staycation.

1. Beautiful beaches

Derbyshire doesn’t have any beaches of its own, but there isn’t too far to travel to visit beaches on the west or east coast of the UK. There are golden beaches and clear blue waters scattered all over the coastline of the UK.

2. Countryside walks

You can take in some fresh air with woodland walks, hiking, and picturesque villages throughout the Peak District. Find the perfect picnic spot and enjoy the outdoors, and there’s plenty of interesting places to stop off along the way.

3. Food favourites

Whether it’s fish and chips at the seaside, or scones with cream and jam in a tearoom, some foods are some of life’s simple pleasures.

Just think of campsite barbecues, or a good old fashioned 99 ice-cream with a chocolate flake, some things even taste better when on holiday!

4. Safety for visitors

The spirit of the Great British Holiday might be the same, but how we are holidaying is changing. Businesses across the country are changing how they operate and adopting strict new safety and hygiene measures to ensure that holiday guests remain safe.

Why not take the whole family and the dog to explore the Peak District and make use of our pet-friendly accommodation in Castleton!
